Examination Blueprints
Examination blueprints specify the number and percentage of questions from a competency area on each examination. Each blueprint also includes the number and percentage of questions targeted to different levels of cognitive complexity. These targeted questions range from basic knowledge and recall to detailed scenario-based questions that require analysis and synthesis of context and patient presentation.
New blueprints come with the transition underway to the Canadian Paramedic Competence Framework (CPCF) from the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP). These are the dates of the first examinations testing to the framework:
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR): November 2025
• Primary Care Paramedic (PCP): May 2026
• Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP): June 2027.
