Examination Blueprints
The Examination Blueprint specifies, for each examination, the number of questions and percentage of questions from each competency area. The Blueprint also includes the number and percentage of questions targeted to different levels of cognitive complexity, from basic knowledge and recall to detailed scenario-based questions that require analysis and synthesis of context and patient presentation.
With the transition underway to the Canadian Paramedic Competence Framework (CPCF) comes new Blueprints. Candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the blueprint that corresponds with the examination they intend to write (NOCP or CPCF).
The CPCF examination blueprints come into effect with future examinations. The first EMR Examination testing to the CPCF is in November 2025. The first PCP Examination testing to the CPCF is Spring 2026. The first ACP Examination testing to the CPCF is 2027.
